   England is a wonderful country with a rich history, unique culture, amazing people and gorgeous countryside. It is one of the most developed country in the world and, at the same time one of the most organized countries. Therefore I would like to speak namely about this piece of land.   
   England is a part of the United Kingdom, sharing borders with Scotland and Wales. The most important symbols, which represent this country, are The St. George’s cross (the national flag of England), the Tudor rose (the nation’s floral emblem) and the Royal Arms of England (a national coat of arms featuring three lions). England doesn’t have an official national anthem as it is the same in the entire UK.   
   Population of England is quite big, including more than 53 million people. This number makes England by far the most populous country of the United Kingdom.   
   Geographically, England includes the central and southern two-thirds of the island of Great Britain. This country has a temperate maritime climate. The weather is very damp, as the rain is present here practically every day. The capital and the largest city is London, but besides it, there are other great cities like Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Glasgow and others.   
   Because England has a very rich culture, there are a lot of famous personalities like different writers, singers, actors and scientists. This huge list includes William Shakespeare - the most important writer and poet of the English Language, J.K Rowling - the person who created Harry Potter and Sir Isaac Newton – the greatest scientists of all time.   
   And to conclude with, I would like to introduce you to some interesting facts about this country. Not everybody knows that French was the official language of England for about three hundred years, until 1362. Probably a well-known fact is that English people consume more tea than anybody else in the world, but you may not know that they consume as much cider. Also, there are over three hundred languages spoken in this country. The shortest war against England lasted 38 minutes.   
   As you can see, England is a very interesting country and I hope that my presentation was interesting as well.

Scotland is a country in the United Kingdom to the north of England. It is a very small country. It’s about 274 miles long. The population of the country is about 5 million people. The head of Scotland is the English monarch – Queen Elizabeth II. The official flag of the country is a white cross on a blue background.  Its symbol is a thistle; its patron is St. Andrew.
The country is devided into Highlands and Lowlands. Most of the industry is concentrated in Lowlands. Glasgow is its largest and busiest town. Edinburgh is its capital. Edinburgh is rather cold but attractive. The two most interesting parts of the city are the Old Town and the New Town. 
Among famous people of Scotland are such people as Alexander Graham Bell (the inventor of telephone), David Brewster (the inventor of kaleidoscope), Kirkpatrick Macmillan (the inventor of the bicycle), Arthur Conan Doyle (the creator of Sherlock Holmes).
One of the most interesting and best known monuments in Edinburgh is a monument to dog called Bobby. The dog belonged to John Gray. When he died Bobby lived near his grave for twenty-six years. Later Bobby was buried near his master and his statue in the Old Town has become a symbol of devotion.
 The Old Town is a striking contrast to New Town with its white and beautiful streets. Princes Street is the most beautiful street of the New Town. It is Edinburgh's popular shopping centre.

Один из самых интересных и самых известных памятников в Эдинбурге памятник собаке по кличке Бобби. Собака принадлежала Джону Грею. Когда он умер Бобби жил рядом с его могилой в течение двадцати шести лет. Позже Бобби был похоронен рядом со своим хозяином и его статуя в Старом городе стала символом преданности. 
Старый город очень отличается от Нового города с его белыми и красивыми улицами. Princes Street является самой красивой улицей Нового города. Это популярный торговый центр Эдинбурга.
