Nevsky Avenue is the main street of
St. Petersburg, which stretches for 4.5 km from Admiralteystvo to Alexander
Nevsky Monastery. It crosses the River Moika, the Griboyedov Chanel, the Fontanka.
Maximum width is 60 m (at the Gostiny Dvor), the lowest - 25 m (for washing).
There are 240 buildings which face on
Nevsky Avenue. The right side is informally called the "shadow" and
the left - "Solar" (a popular
place for walking).
