Sochi — a resort city in Russia, located on the North-Eastern coast of the Black sea (black sea coast of Russia) in Krasnodar Krai, at a distance of 1700 km from Moscow.

Populous Sochi occupies the 5th place among the cities of the southern Federal district — after Rostov-on-don (1 114 806[15]), Volgograd (1 017 451), Krasnodar (853 848), Astrakhan (532 699); and 49-th place in Russia. Among the cities on the Black sea Sochi takes 3rd place for number of inhabitants after Odessa and Samsun and a little ahead of Sebastopol, Varna and Trabzon.
Sochi is the longest city of Russia.
In 2007, Sochi was elected to host the XXII Olympic winter games, and in 2016 — the venue of the XIX world festival of youth and students in 2017. 15 Sep 2009 Sochi has joined the world Union of Olympic cities.
In preparation for the Olympics on the development of the city and its infrastructure has been spent 500 billion rubles
