Irina Rodnina is one of the most well-known and admired athletes in the history of Russian sport. She was born in Moscow on September 12, 1949. She is known for being an iconic pairs figure skater, the only one to win ten consecutive World Championships and three consecutive Olympic gold medals. She also took part in the European Figure Skating Championships winning it eleven times in a row.
