Mark Zakharovich Chagall was born in 1887, on June 24, in Vitebsk, in a simple Jewish family. His father Zakhar was a loader for a herring merchant, his mother kept a small shop, and his grandfather served as a teacher. At the age of nineteen, despite the categorical protests of his father, but thanks to the influence of his mother, Mark (or Moisha, in Jewish) entered a private "school of painting". This was his beginning as an artist. It was a bold start.
Several portraits were painted by the artist Marc Chagall in 1914. One of them is "self-Portrait with an easel".
