Arnold Schwarzenegger was born on July 30, 1947 in the village of Thal near the capital of Styria, Graz. His parents were Gustav Schwarzenegger (1907-1972) and Aurelia Schwarzenegger, born Yadrni (1922-1998). They were married on October 20, 1945, Gustav was 38 years old Aurelia was 23. The older brother Meinhard was born July 17, 1946. The family was Catholic faith and attended church every Sunday. Arnold was christened Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger. 

After the Anschluss of Austria in 1938, Gustav Schwarzenegger joined the NSDAP and the SA. During the war he served in the feldzhandarmerii, where he received the rank of gauptfeldfebelya (Sergeant). After the war, Gustav was allowed to operate the chief of the local police, as there was no evidence of the commission of war crimes. The family lived in poverty, and one of the most vivid memories of youth Schwarzenegger calls the purchase of a refrigerator. Arnold developed an uneasy relationship with the family as to the Austro-German parents was more important than obedience to generally accepted rules than the child's personality. In protest, the young Schwarzenegger has always wanted to be rich and famous.

Influenced by his father, Arnold began playing football, but at the age of 14 years chose a career bodybuilder. He was inspired by such famous bodybuilders like Reg Park, Steve Reeves, and athlete-swimmer Johnny Weissmuller, who are often seen in the movies.
