Previously, Britain had a lot of small shops, but now small shops disappear, and there are great shops belonging to large companies. In the high street, you can find a pharmacy. Here you can buy medicines, so you can buy other things: perfume, cameras, CDs, radio. And most of these streets there are supermarkets, newsagents, banks, music stores. Each city has a post office, but now they sell newspapers and stationery. And of course, every city has a fast food restaurant. Just a lot of foreign restaurants, but less than Britain. English food you can eat in the pub. They are in every town or village.

British High Streets are becoming very similar these days. In a typical  British High Street you can find a Chemist’s, often called Boots where you can buy medicines and other things like CDs, film, cameras and radios. In most High British Streets there is also a department store, banks, music shops, a newsagent’s, a post office. There are also supermarkets and fast food restaurants like McDonald’s. There are also some foreign restaurants: Indian, Chinese, Greek,   Italian and French. But there are no many British restaurants. You can try British food in most pubs.
