John Lennon and Paul McCartney first met on 6th july 1957 when 15-year-old Paul McCartney went to a garden fete at St Peter's Church in Liverpool. John Lennon was performing with his band The Quarry Men at the event. Paul was looking for a hand to join at the time and a friend, of John 's introduced the musicians to each other. Soon after John invited Paul to join The Quarry Men. On 18th October 1957 John Lennon and Paul McCartney first played together live. One of the world's most famous friendships had began. They changed their name to The Beatles in 1960.
