I attend a typical Russian school. There are over 1000 pupils in it - which, I believe, isn't a lot compared to others. Of course, it also depends on whether it's a state school or not. So is mine. However, my parents have to pay certain fees, even though it's not an independent school. But that's how our national education system works in general.
Some classes specialize in certain subjects, such as Maths, Science or English. Which I find relatively wise because in this case pupils get a chance to study according to their own talents and preferences. Basically, any child can study in our school. But we have quite a large number of various olympiads, where children can try themselves and figure out which sphere of school studies they're better at.
Our school starts at 8 a.m., but it rarely ends at the same time, as we always have different amount of lessons. The latter last 45 minutes and there are 10-minute breaks between them. Besides, most pupils are engaged in after-school activities, which also affects the duration of the school day. You can choose from sports, music, art clubs, theatre studio, etc.
I like the building itself. It's not modern-style, but quite big and spacious. Besides the classrooms we've got a gym, a canteen, workshops for boys and girls. We've got a playground for younger pupils and a sports ground. The school is surrounded by trees and flowerbeds - it's quite a picturesque place.
Generally, I enjoy attending my school. I would just like to add more interesting and useful subjects to our syllabus. Subjects where, for example, we'd learn psychology or basic management. I think that'd be great.
