The Louvre, a former fortress and royal palace, is one of the world’s largest museums and the most popular one.  The museum was opened in 1793. The Louvre consists of three separate wings that span four floors. It is so huge that you simply cannot see everything in a single day.There are a lot of exhibits representing different cultures and epochs such as Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece and others. There are plenty of statues, canvases and other objects of art.The most famous painting in the Louvre is Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. The Louvre’s glass pyramid was built in 1989 and is 21 metres high. It is made solely of glass and metal and is now one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks. The entrance to the museum is free almost for everyone. It is open nearly every day.
