The text of the tour.

Hello, Dear guests! I am your guide, my name is Daria Filippova. I am a NSGK student. Today I will give you a tour of Khanty-Mansiysk. Our tour will last 2 academic hours. During the tour you will learn about the history of the city and some of the attractions.Khanty-Mansiysk is the official capital of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug. About 70,000 people live in the city. The territory of Khanty-Mansiysk is located in the Taiga zone, at the confluence of two famous Russian rivers: the Irtysh and the Ob.Experts call the climate of Khanty-Mansiysk continental. The winters here are usually very severe and long - thirty-degree frost is recorded both in November and in April. The coldest months are December and January, the temperature usually keeps below -20 ° C all the time. The absolute minimum temperature for Khanty-Mansiysk is -49.Winter winds bring additional discomfort on frosty days. Summer, on the contrary, can be hot, with temperatures reaching +40, but usually such hot weather does not last long in July, but June is often unusually cold, with night frosts.Unlike many Ugra cities, Khanty-Mansiysk, although it bears a new name, stands on the old “acquired” and “namolenny” place. Once there was a town of Ostyak Prince Samara. In 1637, Tsar Mikhail Fyodorovich sent here the family of coachmen to organize the Yamsky gon between Tobolsk and Berezovo, and the town of Samarov became the Samarovsky Yam. Over time, the marina became increasingly important - Samarovo became a large village, which played a significant trading role due to its position in the middle of the road to Berezovo and Surgut from Tyumen and Tobolsk.Already in the beginning of the 19th century, a stone church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos was built. They built the future Khanty-Mansiysk all unreliable "elements" exiled here to "re-forgive". Until now, the indigenous Khanty-Mansiysians called the Perekovka district of Roznin Street. Ostyako-Vogulsk received its present name in 1940, and became a city in 1950.Let's start our tour along the Irtysh river road. We are located on the outskirts of the city, here there is a beautiful view of the Irtysh embankment. In a few minutes we will reach the Archeopark. (See Appendix 3)The unique park of almost Jurassic period is a great place to walk. After his visit, everyone is delighted - both adults and children. Sculptures amaze with their greatness. Mammoths, wolves, primitive bison, woolly rhinos, cave bears ... Some figures are made in full size, others are enlarged by two or even three times. The mammoth figure, for example, reaches 8 meters in height! (See Appendix 4).Once here, especially in winter, you can very vividly imagine the time when our ancestors lived in caves and hunted mammoths. Especially beautiful in the park in the evening, when the lights come on.It is located at the foot of the Samarovsky glacier outcrop. Therefore, it is both a geological and archaeological monument. And, of course, a park of sculptures depicting animals of the Pleistocene time and Paleolithic people. On Freedom Square in the center of Samarovo (the historical part of Khanty-Mansiysk), heroes of distant events - the founding of the city - are immortalized. Three enormous figures with a height of 12 meters personify Governor Ivan Mansurov, Ataman Nikita Pan and Khanty Prince Samara. The sculptural composition is crowned with a large-scale arch “Gateway to Siberia” - an allegory of the discovery of a new, cold, rich and unexplored world of Siberia. The inscription on the monument says: "From these banks of the Irtysh in the XVI century began the development of Siberia by the Russian state." (See Appendix 5). At the end of 1999 in Khanty-Mansiysk, a stone was laid in the foundation of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ. This temple is located on a hill in a picturesque place, you can see it from anywhere in the city: where only the dome glitters in the sun, and the whole temple opens up to somewhere. Not so long ago, the inner walls of the building were painted with frescoes, which can be admired endlessly. Not far from the temple complex there is the “Orthodox Park”, along the avenues of which the townspeople walk, admiring fountains in the summer. Immortalized the memory of the enlighteners of the Slavs - Cyril and Methodius, a monument which, together with the Crucifixion, was installed in the center of the alley. (See Appendix 6).
