Мы были голодны. Мы были очень голодны. Конечно, у нас были с собой бутерброды и бутылка Колы, но это было утром, когда мы приехали за город. «Я еду домой», - сказал мой друг. 
«Но ты не хотел уезжать домой сегодня», - сказал я. «Ты хотел здесь остаться».
«Да, я хотел здесь остаться. Ты знаешь, почему? Десятого апреля, в прошлое воскресенье мои родители привезли сюда продукты (food): много мяса, рыбы, овощей. Но в среду здесь была моя сестра с друзьями. Они слишком много едят». 
«Где здесь магазин?» - спросил я. 
«Боюсь, он не работает», - ответил мой друг. 
«Ты уверен? Когда ты был в нем в последний раз?» 
«Прошлым летом на машине», - ответил мой друг. И мы пошли пешком в магазин. 
Это было в половине пятого. В четверть шестого я посмотрел на друга и осторожно спросил: 
«Где магазин?» 
«Я не знаю», - сказал мой друг, - «в прошлом году он был здесь». 
«Это было летом, а сейчас весна. Может быть, он не работает в апреле», - сказал я. 
Без десяти минут шесть мой друг сказал: «Вот магазин». 
И я увидел его. Это был маленький магазин с двумя длинными окнами и тяжелой дверью. И, конечно, он не работал.
