Russia has a lot of public holidays. The most popular are Maslenitsa, Victory Day, New Year, Easter, Christmas, Halloween and other. As we can see, Russia includes holidays from other countries and cultures.

My favorite public holiday is the New Year. I like it because i like winter and the festive atmosphere of that holiday, happy songs and gifts. Also it's a reason to meet distant relatives.

Every year we decorate the flat and the christmas tree. After that we cook the dishes and meet our relatives, sit around the table and waiting for President's speech. We give each other presents at midnight and later people go outside and launch fireworks, laughing and dancing.
