Простое прошедшее время

Время the Past Simple обычно используется, когда мы описываем:
1) действия или свойства предмета, имевшие место в прошлом:
On Sunday afternoon we went for a walk along the beach. — В воскресенье днем мы пошли прогуляться по пляжу.
2) действия, регулярно повторявшиеся в прошлом:
They swam every day. — Они плавали каждый день.
3) ряд последовательных действий в прошлом:
Не arrived from the airport, checked into the hotel and met the others. — Он приехал из аэропорта, поселился в гостинице и встретился с остальными.
4) действия, происходившие в течение определенного периода в прошлом:
I played basketball when I was a teenager. — Я играл в баскетбол, когда был подростком.
1) Утвердительная форма
Утвердительная форма образуется так:
• если глагол правильный, мы прибавляем окончание -ed (cook – cooked)
• если глагол не правильный, мы ставим его во 2-ую форму (see – saw).

2) Отрицательная форма
Отрицание образуется с помощью вспомогательного глагола did и отрицательной частицы not. При этом глагол мы никак не меняем, он стоит в начальной форме. Часто мы используем сокращение: did + not = didn’t.
Например: The ship did not leave the port. – Корабль не покинул порт.
3) Вопросительная форма
Вопросительная форма образуется с помощью вспомогательного глагола did, который ставится перед подлежащим, а смысловой – после подлежащего.
Например: Did the ship leave the port? – Покинул корабль порт?
Yes, it did. (No, it didn’t.) – Да. (Нет.)
