Some people prefer to live in a city while, others prefer to live in a country. Both aspects have their own advantages and disadvantages.
I reckon that people in their late fifties prefer living in a country.
Let's start looking at the advantages.
As the advantage we can consider the fact that the country is less polluted and the traffic isn't so heavy. You don't need to worry about your health condition, because in the countryside the air and water are so clean.
Also living in the countryside is cheaper than it is in the city, so you probably may afford many other things, because the prices are lower. But the biggest advantage for me is that people can live in a big house without any noisy neighbors.
The possibility of robbery or other crime is relatively lower. Life in the countryside is more peaceful and the life is also slower. What is more, it is less stressful. There isn't any time pressure and you can reach a lot of places just on foot.
On the other hand, there aren't many interesting things to do during free time in countries.
The unemployment rate is also much higher than in the city. The problem may be also the communication. If you don't have your own car, you may have problem how to commute to work.
To sum up, I think that living in the country may have a lot of advantages such as fresh air, wonderful landscapes and silence, but a lot of people decide to stay in the city, because the life in the town is more interesting and entertaining.
