The education system of Ukraine can be divided into the following types: basic or basic school, vocational secondary school and higher school. Each type of school has its own task: the secondary school should give the younger generation a deep and solid knowledge of the basics of science and how to use them in practice. The most important task that the school solves is the practical training of labor in accordance with the requirements of life, social, scientific and technological progress. Vocational high school provides young people with secondary education plus vocational training.
Then comes high school. Every year many people enter higher education institutions: institutes and universities.
To enroll, you need to know well the subjects taught in secondary school on the same curriculum.
Higher education is available to everyone. Boys and girls have a chance to enter an institute or university. Students even predominate in teachers', medical and some other institutes. Higher education institutions have preparatory departments for those who work in agriculture and industry and are demobilized from the army. After completing a ten-month preparatory course and passing exams, students are enrolled.
There are three types of higher education institutions in the country: universities, polytechnics and specialized institutes. There are many new and old universities in Ukraine. Among them, of course, is Lviv University. Education, research, social activities, various sports - all this is part of students' lives. Students who have the ability and desire to do research can start studying in graduate school immediately after graduation.

Students are released from high school at the age of 18. Secondary schools are usually larger in size and accommodate teens from 4 or 5 primary schools. During the academic year, students study 4-5 elective subjects, according to their professional interests. They are required to take a certain number of courses in order to receive a diploma of general secondary education or a certificate of completion.

In American colleges and universities, young people receive higher education. They study for 4 years and receive a bachelor's degree in humanities or natural sciences. If a student intends to obtain a master's degree, he needs to study for another 2 years and conduct research. Students who wish to continue their studies in a particular field of knowledge may obtain a Doctor's degree. The most famous American universities are Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, Yale and Columbia universities.
