As for me, I live in Almaty. The city of Almaty is the largest in Kazakhstan. Today Almaty is called the "Southern Capital", and it opens up wide prospects for independent travelers.
The best time to visit Almaty is April—May and September—October, when there are no winter frosts or summer heat. Moderate temperatures, blooming or, conversely, picturesquely withering nature, will be an excellent backdrop for walking through parks, museums, cathedrals.
Sights of Almaty — museums, sports complexes, theaters, temples and cathedrals, natural sites, memorials and monuments. The world's largest high-altitude sports complex is Medeo, the Koktobe TV Tower, the monument of independence of Kazakhstan and much more.
I recommend visiting one of the symbols of Almaty — Kok Tobe Mountain. In March 2016, a new gondola track, a park and a Ferris wheel were opened, and the famous TV tower received modern architectural lighting. A trip in the cableway is a mandatory point of the tourist program.
