My preferred kind of holiday would be one where I can go around and explore places and do things on my own. I’m the kind of person who does intense research before traveling, and I also ask the hotel staff and local people I meet for suggestions, so I do like to plan out my activities, and map out exactly what to do on which day, but I wouldn’t want to go on one of those package deals. I would maybe hire a local guide for a tour around the town for a day, but otherwise I would just rent my own car, ask people for directions and suggestions, and just discover the place on my own.
