It’s difficult to find an educational establishment that wouldn’t have its own traditions. While some try to conserve them so that the younger generations could experience it too, some want to let bygones be bygones.

First of all, school traditions are something that essentially brings people together. For example, holiday gatherings, picnics and other events. Each school has its special tradition. In my school we used to have a Day of Friendship when all students would go on a picnic. The best part of it was a massive bonfire that represented  an immortal friendship that we will carry throughout the years. I believe sustaining such traditions is a brilliant idea. Knowing that my parents used to attend the same events thrills me.

However, not all events bring  joy and benevolent memories. As the time goes by some things are just not actual anymore. Having the “cleaning days” in the Soviet Union was fairly common. I don’t understand why we have to preserve this tradition in the 21st century. Now that we have enough janitors, why not let them do their work. Personally, I don’t approve of such  out of date traditions.

To sum up, school traditions is truly a wonderful idea. Yet I profoundly believe that we should abandon old traditions that no longer excite anyone.
