Today the term “scuba diving” means underwater diving with scuba. Diving without any equipment, in turn, is known as free diving. Besides, there exist different kinds or branches of scuba diving, the most important of which are recreational, technical, scientific, combat, and professional diving. Of course, the most well-known is recreational diving, which has become a popular entertainment available not only to professionals, but to anybody who has no health restrains, and who has passed a special training course. Sometimes scuba diving is referred to extreme sports, because in certain situation it can be dangerous. The most common risks associated with diving are injuries caused by pressure changes, decompression, loss of body heat, and failure of diving equipment. All this can lead to drowning. But these hazards are more common for professional diving, not for recreational, where the depth of diving usually doesn’t exceed 40 meters and you are accompanied by a dive master.
