Altyn-Emel" (Kaz. "Altynemel" State National Natural Park) is a state national natural park in the valley of the Ili River on the territory of the Zhetysus region of Kazakhstan. It occupies a territory bounded in the south by the Ili River and the Kapshagai Reservoir, in the north by the western spurs of the Dzungar Alatau — mountains Sholak, Matai Altynemel and Koyandytau, and in the east by the low mountains of Aktau. The name of the ridge comes from the name of the main pass through it, translated from Turko-Mongolian Altynemel - "golden saddle" ("golden" means gold and "emel" means saddle).
