In February 2007, paragliders, including Ewa Wiśnierska, a German champion, gathered in Australia to prepare for the World Championship. However, a thunderstorm approached as they were getting ready to take off. Despite this, they decided to continue with the competition. Tragically, as they took off, the weather worsened and Ewa found herself trapped in the storm. She was pulled up into the clouds, with lightning and hail all around her. She rose to an altitude of nearly 10,000 m, higher than Mount Everest, and lost consciousness due to the cold temperature and lack of oxygen. It was a terrifying and dangerous experience for Ewa, and death seemed certain.
