Probably the most popular and recognizable Ukrainian dish is borscht.  It is a hot soup whose main ingredient is beet, which gives it a bright red color. Another delicious soup is based on cabbage, the name of soup also comes from this vegetable. It's from central regions of Ukraine. Vareniks are dumplings with many variations of filling. From sweet berries to meat. Not a dish, but very often there could be an addition of sour cream to many  dishes, it adds flavor and makes food way more interesting.
