Язык – отражение культуры страны и менталитета её жителей. Изучая иностранный язык, мы начинаем лучше понимать его носителей, узнаём, как строятся социальные контакты в другой стране, учимся взаимодействовать с людьми, чьё мышление и восприятие мира отличается от наших.
Важность знания иностранного языка основывается, прежде всего, на том, что даёт людям возможность окунуться в культуру другого народа и понять, чем он живёт и как мыслит. Не имея возможности общаться и понимать культуру другой страны на её правах, человек сам себя ограничивает.
