I find cars to be a really convenient vehicle. If you own one, it's much easier to get around. You don't need to wait for a bus or cab to come, therefore you are given opportunity to save extra time. However, not everyone can actually afford a car. What I could say, ultimately, you'll most likely spend less money on buying a good one once than using paid transportation every time. With regards to the place where I live, I can definitely say that there are many cars in the area. It is no wonder that we can see a lot of cars on the streets because most people share the view of them being something that everyone should have for one's own sake. So, as the result of such mindset, traffic jams are quite common here. They usually do happen during rush hours when seemingly everyone has the need to drive somewhere. Hence car accidents, sadly, is no longer an unusual thing. I believe it has become a big problem, and we need to start doing something to prevent them. Happily, the situation with car accidents is not that bad where I live. Sometimes I hear news about serious ones, but I wouldn't say it happens that often. But what I can say for sure, is that a lot of drivers nowadays are irresponsible. They let themselves be drunk while driving, pay more attention to phone than a road, not care about the speed limit or even do drugs. I think one of the main disadvantages of using cars is that you don't clearly know what other people have in their minds. Maybe once they'll get you in a car accident and leave you injured to avoid getting in trouble. It rarely happens here where I live, but I heard a lot of such stories. And that's the cruel world we live in. In any case, cars are still preferred, despite of their cons. People prefer to use this vehicle because, considering the reality of modern world, owning a car is a quite expedient decision. It's a convenient way of transportation, and a lot of people are even passionate about driving. Car rides are usually enjoyable, and you don't have to share free space with others, especially those who you're not acquainted with. And I personally prefer this way of travelling too.
