Albert Einstein

March 14, 1879: Albert Einstein was born in Ulm, in the Kingdom of Württemberg, German Empire.

1884: Einstein's family moved to Munich, where he attended a Catholic elementary school.

1894: At the age of 15, Einstein failed an entrance exam for the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich.

1895: Einstein left school in Germany without a diploma and joined his family in Italy. He then applied to ETH and was admitted on the condition that he first complete his high school studies in Switzerland.

1900: Einstein graduated from ETH with a diploma in mathematics and physics.

1902: Einstein obtained a job as a patent clerk in Bern, Switzerland.

1905: Einstein published four groundbreaking papers on theoretical physics, including his special theory of relativity and his famous equation, E=mc².

1911: Einstein was offered a position as a professor of theoretical physics at the German University of Prague.

1914: Einstein returned to Germany to take up a position at the University of Berlin.
