Plastic takes hundreds of years to decompose, and it pollutes our land and oceans, putting many species at risk. We need to take action to reduce our plastic consumption. Reason: Plastic is everywhere in our daily lives. It's used for packaging, single-use items, and more. But it's harming the environment and wildlife. Animals mistake plastic for food, and they can choke on it or get tangled up in it. Plastic also contaminates our water supply, making it dangerous for us to drink. Example: Did you know that in the United States alone, over 500 million plastic straws are used and thrown away every day? By using reusable straws, we can reduce our plastic waste and help protect the planet. Opinion: We can make a difference by taking simple steps to reduce our plastic use. Bring your own reusable bags to the grocery store, use a refillable water bottle instead of buying bottled water, and say no to plastic straws. Every little bit helps!
