After the death of the duchess, Buckingham House was inherited by Charles Sheffield, who successfully sold the building to King George III of England in 1762. It was then that changes began in the interior and additions to the main building of the Duke of Buckingham's house. At the same time, in addition to changes in architecture, the very name of the building also changed. Now it is the “Queen's House”, because most often it is the wife and children of George III who live there.
