Pocahontas, the daughter of Chief Powhatan in Virginia, promoted peace between her people and English colonists. She learned English and helped the colonists during a food shortage. She saved the life of an English captain and later married colonist John Rolfe. Unfortunately, while in England with her husband and son, she passed away at the age of 22.
