At that time she lived in great poverty. Then she wrote a book and sent it to a few publishing houses, all of which didn't accept the book for publication. It was her sheer luck that the chairman of a little publishing house gave the book to his eight-year-old daughter to read. The girl liked the book very much and so it was published. The book became a hit and later people called it a masterpiece. Its author became rich and her book affected children's reading habits all over the world.
