The New Year holidays are popular with people all over the world. However, it is celebrated differently in different countries. In European countries it takes place at the end of December. People usually decorate New Year trees and give presents to each other. They prepare delicious dishes, lay the table and have good time together with their friends and relatives. However, in Thailand it is celebrated in April. It is called Songkran festival. The weather is warm or hot and everybody is outside. People dance, laugh and have fun. There is a tradition to splash water on each other and put sticky substance on everyone you come across.
