Sabantuy is the most famous national holiday of the Tatars, which does not have an exact date of celebration, but, as a rule, is held in the interval between the last days of May and the end of June. What is Sabantuy and what does it mean for the Tatars? This is truly a nationwide entertainment and at the same time sporting event, in which not only professional athletes take part, but also anyone who wishes, often from among numerous spectators. The latter circumstance creates amusing and funny situations among the competitors, an atmosphere of universal participation, unity and, apparently, therefore the Sabantuy holiday is so beloved among the Tatars, as, by the way, among other nationalities participating in this celebration.
