One of my favorite ways to spend my free time, one that I especially enjoy, is going to the movies.
Among the different kinds of movies (like comedies, romantic dramas, adventures, police dramas or detective movies, psychological thrillers, horror or historical movies) I like detectives and romantic dramas the most, because such movies are interesting and full of life. but I also like selected horror movies, I have found them quite thrilling since I was a kid.
But now I would like to tell you about the movie that I enjoy watching the most. It's called Where Dreams Lead. It's a 1998 American sci-fi drama starring Robin Williams. The movie is based on the 1978 novel of the same name by Richard Matheson, directed by Vincent Ward.
It is a beautiful story about a married couple. Chris (Robin Williams) and Annie (Annabella Squira) are husband and wife. They met by chance and immediately fell in love. They have two wonderful children and a marriage full of love and life. But tragedy strikes, one day their children die in a car accident. They grasp for life and struggle with grief, but one day, four years later, Chris also dies. He finds himself in heaven, but cannot accept his fate. A guide is sent to him in the form of his friend Albert (Cuba Gooding Jr.). Albert takes Chris on a journey through heaven. In the real world, Annie can't handle Chris' death, so she kills herself and goes to hell. Chris must go on a journey to find her and save her from eternal suffering.
This movie touches all the right strings. It makes you laugh and cry from time to time. Chris' love for Annie is stronger than anything you have ever seen. He wants to lose his mind and spend all eternity in hell with her, with neither of them acknowledging the other because they are soul mates destined to be together at all times. This movie is hard to explain in any other way. The journey Chris takes is remarkable, but the real star of this film is the visuals.
The story is enveloping, encompassing almost the entire spectrum of human emotion. It's a roller coaster ride, but with rewards. The comedy, the hope, the sadness, the joy, the elation, the despair all beautiful.
It's a story about eternal love and dreams that always come true.
