Volodymyr the Great (c. 960-1015)

Prince Volodymyr introduced the Old Russian state into the orbit of world politics and culture. In the conquered Crimea, he adopted Christianity and made it the state religion. This allowed Kyiv to establish close relations with the Byzantine Empire, the largest and most developed state in Europe and the Middle East.

Volodymyr created a state council, which, in addition to boyars - the old hereditary nobility, also included representatives of large cities. The council was an instrument of legislative and executive power.

Volodymyr was the first head of Kyivan Rus to mint his own coins: gold and silver coins. On them, as well as on objects of state importance, the prince ordered to put his sign - a trident, a prototype of the current coat of arms of Ukraine.

What impresses: he ensured Ukraine a place on the international stage, introduced the state currency, understood the power of state symbols.

Yaroslav the Wise (c. 978-1054)

Under Yaroslav Volodymyrovych, the territory of the Old Russian state expanded as much as possible. Kyiv's power stretched from the Black Sea to the Baltic Sea and from the Carpathians to the Volga. The political and military power of the Old Russian state was recognized in Europe. Yaroslav's daughters were married to the kings of France, Hungary, Norway, Denmark, and England, which in those days was considered a kind of treaty of friendship and cooperation.

The prince compiled the first codex in Eastern Europe - "Russian Truth" - a collection of legislative guidelines that were in effect in Russia. For several centuries, it became the basis for the legal system of neighboring states, such as the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

The prince was considered wise by the people due to the fact that he raised culture and education to the world level. Under him, schools of painting, stone construction, and chronicles arose, educational institutions were opened. A large library was assembled at St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv. And nowadays we have access to online knowledge, why not use it?

What is impressive: "Father-in-law of Europe" ensured the prosperity of the country, established law, developed education among all strata of the population.
